CHESTER RACECOURSE

Working with Pentagram Design on the masterplanning for the Chester Race Company. Chester Racecourse is set outside the historic walls of the city, on a grassy bowl (which in Roman times was a harbour). The historic stables are within the city centre and the masterplan brief was to explore the possibility of relocating the stables and associated grounds to new buildings within the racecourse. A new grandstand, hotel and archaeological interpretation centre were also sensitively placed within the racecourse grounds.
