NEW CROSS NDC CENTRE
A competition entry with Buschow Henley. One of five invited teams asked to present their ideas for the scheme in February 2006.The development is health-focused and integrates health care and community facilities. The ambitious brief included a surgery for eight doctors, pharmacy, dentist, library, youth theatre, café, crèche, artists’ studios, housing and a major new public space, identified as one of the London Mayor’s 100 spaces. Our landscape proposals created a sequence of spaces within a public square and a semi-public central garden. This was a modern ‘pleasure’ garden, a combination of city orchard with contemporary wilderness.
