NORTHAMPTON MILLENNIUM ECOLOGICAL PARK
A proposal in conjunction with Alsop and Störmer for a ‘Millennium Strand’, planned to enhance Becket’s Park and the adjacent Midsummer Meadow. A series of linked open spaces and parks with bridges across and ‘boxes of delights’ within it, forming a corridor of individual, landscaped gardens. The park, running alongside the River Nene, is a mile long, from the centre of Northampton westwards to the new business park. Our ideas for the park provided strategies for sustainable commuting by foot or bicycle, between the city centre and the new and relocated businesses on the edge of town.
