ST LUKE’S PRIMARY SCHOOL
The new school is a flagship project to create a radical new primary school at the heart of the Blakenhall Gardens regeneration area of Wolverhampton. The design approach for St Luke’s School was developed through close consultation with the existing school and community.
The landscape focuses on maximising space for recreational exercise and learning. The organic shape of the play areas along with different surface textures and colours create stimulating and interesting places for creative play. Improving biodiversity on site through native planting has created new habitats for wildlife and for interactive learning. Productive planting and raised beds provide the school with opportunity to grow their own fruit, vegetables and herbs - a unique tool for education.
The project has a strong emphasis on sustainability both within the building and landscape.
