MUSEUM OF WORLD CULTURE, GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN
This project won an international competition in 2002 (with Brisac Gonzales) for a museum of culture in Gothenburg, Sweden. Our design complemented Brisac Gonzales proposals for the steep wooded site in the heart of the city.
The woodland park that accompanies the building was designed to carefully orchestrate the transition between the mature trees that surround the museum park and the museum grounds presenting a ‘glade’ as the backdrop for a public square. This setting for a public square and an outdoor performance space cleverly juxtaposes the sculptural elements that form the range of seating, tables and lighting with linear elements in the paving and the restrained but sophisticated palette of planting.
