Ambassadorial Residence - Khartoum, SUDAN

The end of the life expectancy of the old residence was fast approaching and has been replaced with a new British Ambassadorial Residence on the same site in Khartoum, Sudan. The landscape design embraced the requirement to create a befitting setting for the receiving and entertaining of ambassadorial guests and dignitaries, whilst also offering places of seclusion and privacy for the Ambassadors family.

A series of courtyards and shaded terraces were created, encompassing water features, offering respite from the busy urbanity of Khartoum.  The working of levels to sit the house at an elevated height to protect from seasonal flooding was carefully designed into the landscape creating a seamless transition between house and grounds.
