Angell Town Phases 1&11 - Brixton, London

A significant housing regeneration project in Brixton South London commissioned by the London Borough of Lambeth, Angell Town Community Project and Ujima Housing Association. This project involved the demolition of public housing built in the late 1970’s and its replacement with smaller-scale family units. Masterplanning included the provision of home zones to manage traffic and parking. An important element of the design process was to adopt ‘Secured by Design’ standards to provide residents with greater levels of security.

In addition to the landscape associated with the housing we designed Little Angells, a new park on the estate and were also commissioned to carry out an estate wide traffic & signage strategy.

Design Team members were actively engaged throughout the design phases with the neighbourhood action committee to ensure the resident’s requirements were met. We were involved in extensive public consultation and community participation through meetings, leafleting, ‘at home’ interviews, questionnaires, public open days and exhibitions of proposals as they developed.
