Oak Meadow Primary School - Wolverhampton

A new two form entry primary school built on an existing site. The existing school site will increase in area with the new school project onto land which is currently used as playing fields within the boundary of a neighbouring secondary school.

The site has mature trees and historic hedgerow boundaries which are an asset to the school environment. Woodland habitat gardens are to be retained and enhanced to compliment new areas of wildflower grasses and hedgerows to provide children with an understanding of flora and fauna and their local landscape. Classes can be organised to maintain habitat areas encouraging custodianship of the natural environment.

Outdoor classrooms compliment indoor learning, a quiet orchard classroom enclosed with low hedging would give opportunities for art, fruit picking, story telling and studying the natural world. Covered outdoor classroom terraces will allows lessons to be taken outside.
